Caul – IndieGoGo video pitch

“Caul” is an ambitious fifteen-minute short film based on an old Polish folktale. Set in the mid-seventeenth century, it tells the story of Piotr, born late one night with a caul over his head (what we would now know as the amniotic sac).
This being a terrible omen that your child would become a vampire, the parents must keep the caul, dry it, grind it and feed it to their son, Piotr when he turns seven. This will prevent him from becoming a vampire.
On his seventh birthday, his parents sit Piotr down for a ‘special birthday meal’. But he refuses to eat and kicks the food away, ruining it. Now there is nothing to stop him from turning…
